M ROBSON
Hi folks, I went out stalking again this morning, set off at half four, just after daybreak. I spotted a doe and two small kids down by a fir stripwood so went down for a closer look. She's been in this same area all summer and the kids are coming along well now. I then headed up the hill to another fir plantation and spotted a Doe, Buck and two 3/4 grown kids out in the field next to it, there was also 12 Greylag Geese! It was a very hard stalk, it took me about 45 minutes and at one stage I thought I was sprung. The two kids were in the middle of the field about 200 yards away from the adults that were up in a far away corner. I had to crawl past them on my belly and across a gateway. Guess where the kids decided to walk when I was half way across? Yep, through the gate! They got to about 10 feet away from me then saw me and ran up the field towards the adults. I waited 10 minutes and they settled back down again and I continued my stalk. I ended up taking the buck at about 175 yards with a well placed heart shot. I'm well chuffed. Mark. apbuild
Well done mate! The antlers on that buck look great. I am sure the crawling around on your belly was worth it in the end! Rob.
