Hi,

I have a Tikka model 590, in .22-250 calber, it's a great rifle, I'm looking for info / history on this model, I have heard plenty about the 595 but info on the 590 is a bit scarce, it has a 20 inch barrel, I don't know if it has been cut or no , I would appreciate some info if possible.

Regards

Bob.

hi bob

its mild down here but i am back in the highlands for a week after xmas hopefully.

btw i have a m590 and a m595 and the only difference seems to be the size of the ejection port, the 595 is easier to single load, some custom builders reckon that makes the 590 action there first choice because it is stiffer/stronger.

Hi Plinker,

Thanks for your reply, quite mild up here too but a lot of rain, hope you have good weather during your forthcoming trip to the highlands.

I think my 590 could be the Battue model as it has the short barrel, the iron sights were long gone before I bought it I found a photo some time ago on a Finsh? web site, which I think I have attached for you to see.

Regards

Bob.

Hi Plinker,

I Forgot to say in the last reply that I heard the Battue had the short barrel for using in the forest, although according to the photo, it doesn't look that short, as for the Master bit, I do not have that or Battue written on my rifle.

bobbo, how are you getting on with the tikka? I`m looking at one at the mo and would like to know what you think of yours? cheers JD

Hi Jammiedodger,

I love it, it is very well built, quite solid, I'm not much of a target shooter but when I zeroed it in with a factory load of 55Gr. resting on a blanket off the bonnet of my truck, I got 3 within 3/4inch at 100Yds. thats good enough for me for foxes & roe.

I have a Zeiss Conguest 3-9x50 scope on it set at 7, what I also like about it is, the bottom of the forend is flat and rests quite well on strainer posts giving a better balance when taking a shot under that cicumstance, I don't think I will ever part with it, I hope this helps.

cheers bob, I just brought one s/h from ringwood, looking forward to having a play. how do you get on with the ziess, did you get it over here or was it ordered from the US?

which bit of aberdeenshire are you in?

Hi Jammie,

I find the Zeiss scope quite good, does the job, good at night when lamping, I ordered it from the States, but the Customs & Excise got thier dirty paws on it, so I had to pay duty, but even with the duty on it, it was still cheaper than rip off Britain, but it all depends on the exchange rate.

Best of luck with your rifle, if it's anything like mine I'm sure you will love it, let's know how it goes. :good:
