hairyduck
it could be a number of things, most likely if you're a very new shooter is that you're mounting the gun incorrectly. If you know your mount is correct then is would show that the comb was too high for you (as it seems in my case at the moment)
zipdog
hi mate test your gun mount. An easy way to do this at home is to take a 2 pount coin and lay it on the top of the rib. at the point when the barrel starts, just above the ejector. When you mount your gun now you should just be able to see the bead at the end, only the bead though none of the rib. If you can see the rib you need to not gather so much of your cheek up onto the stock. And this will solve your shooting high problem
eclipse3
Hi I have just been mounting the gun with the laser on and the dot is just above the sight, I am looking along the rib, will have to see how it shoots on Wednesday. The gun was fitted by a gunsmith in Nicosia who has a very good reputation. I have been shooting nearly one year and this is my first gun, breaking more clays each week but I would like to get better. This site is very usefull to people like me, thanks. regards john a 2 pound coin would to usefull maybe I can find one, not much use for them here in Cyprus. Thanks for the tip. zipdog
that perfect, you will shoot much better if you have the correct head position.
COACH
Don`t forget the bore sight will show where the gun is going to put it`s lead shot. If the red dot is sitting on top the forward bead (muzzels) thats what you want with a sporter or game gun because the shot pattern comes out of the barrels at 60/70% of the shot above the barrels and 40/30% straight out of the barrels. Most of the shot moves slightly up hill. You can then see the kill instead of blocking it out with the barrels, which makes you lift your head to see the target, resulting in a miss. If it is too high then its almost certainly a high combe. One of the worst guns for this is the Browning Cynergy. utectok
I agree with coach 60/40 is how most guns shoot. Keep your cheek on the comb though.

It is not the gun that is the issue it is the person. Gun stocks are made to basic "fit all" dimensions and the manufacturers have differing opinions on what fits all. Which is why some guns suit one but not the other. If you have a gun fitted correctly by someone who knows what they are doing then it doesn't make a ****s worth of difference what make the gun is. eclipse3
Hi all, went to the club today and thought I was back in UK windy with rain about. But the important thing was the tips you all gave were very usefull, I still need to work on my lead, I'm sure that will come in time and practice. The laser was a good tool for helping me with my sighting also helped others as well. I shot dtl as well but I don't have any worries about that. regards john
