slimfb
asking for permission........(although you have no licence & no gun as yet......but need permission to get your licence)......then say 'i'll be back in a couple of months when i get my licence & gun.........doesn't seem to work seems like all the available shooting permissions have been taken up or that farmers & landowners just don't want any of us 'new folk' on their land from what i have experienced lately, in my area, it can be very 'clicky'..........you're either in with the local shooting crowd.........or you're not .....i have my basc insurance at least Edited November 14, 2009 by slimfb

Alanl50
Most of us have been where you are! and there's a lot of very generous guys on here that do have newbies acompany them. ("Suffolk Shooter" your one) When you get your gun drive round look for areas with pigeon problems /grazing and then go knocking you will never know your luck. Remember the Farmers / land owners owe you nothing so up to you to prove your worth, and as I presume its your first licence so your possibly a risk in there eyes if your get my drift ! its good you got your Insurance sorted though, promote that in your first contact. I can understand Farmers reluctance when you hear the stories told, one farm near me only allows family members to shoot because of the hassle previous shooters have given them ie; shooting anything that moves and breaths whatever the season, Im working on them though. lol Offer your help to them in whatever capacity. Clicky? not really its the trust issue Dont be downhearted, keep trying Good luck Alan
