how do I guage the age of my winchester

The code, found on all guns throughout the Browning/Winchester range after 1977, was, and still is, as follows:

 

The letter Z represents the figure 1 T represents the figure 6

Y represents the figure 2 R represents the figure 7

X represents the figure 3 P represents the figure 8

W represents the figure 4 N represents the figure 9

V represents the figure 5 M represents the figure 0

 

 

Using this information, the age of any gun produced after 1977 is obvious to all who know the code. eg Gun no. 12345NP was started in 1998.

 

Unless your gun was started before 1977, you should be able to say how old it is by the serial number.

Hi Frisp

 

I had an old fabarm O/U fixed choke, and the dealer I got it from was not sure of the age, so I went on line and found the fabarm site e mailed the details and they came back with the records, maybee you could do the same, worth a try.
