Wookie
Well, after a two week spell in sunny Strensall with the army, I trotted down to Newark to pick up the boys and then get home for a well deserved, and hard earned, weekend with my wife. I turned up at the kennels and Ted, the Springer is as usual, going mental, but the little guy, Ralph, is a little shy and quiet, so I twig that something is wrong. The trainer and I have a look over him and can feel a mass in his gut that doesn't feel normal and the little guy looks sorry for himself and tries to go back to bed. Temperature is a touch high of normal, but he's just not right. Anyway, cue a blast down the A1 to the vets and an x-ray; nothing showing up, but his heart rate is up his temp is up a bit and he's listless. They go in and have to remove a 50cm section of the poor guy's gut which had twisted and gone black. Apparently, some of the gut had stuck to another section after he last op he had (part of a flip-flop, two stones) and this had, probably with a bit of wind, caused it to twist, probably during the night. He would have been getting progressively worse since then. So the poor little guy is now back at the vets four months after his last op recovering from another and the wife and I are feeling sorry for ourselves too. Last night was a series of calls between me and the trainer with him feeling really bad and wondering if he'd eaten anything untoward whilst in the kennels or run, and me reassuring him that there was nothing he could have done to prevent this from happening, it was just one of those things. I doubt whether anyone could have picked it up sooner. So, we are now waiting on a call from the vets to see whether we can get Ralph back today, or if he should stay in another night just in case. What a welcome home. Certainly not what I had been looking forward to, but at least he's ok now.

Wookie
Yes, he's covered, which is lucky given the 1200 quid bill! It might get a bit tricky given that the vet is listing it as a continuation of a previous op (i.e. complications), but that should be them arguing and just leaving us out of it. He hates his lampshade...
