The Clay Rascal
Hi Being a newbe, how do I find the cost= RFD TO RFD, thanks Mick
Lez325
Try asking you rfd fella- its usually around £25 each end so add £50 to the cost of the gun Les
ME
Some charge up to £40.00 + at each end. (our local one does) I would add £100.00 to be safe.
Peter De La Mare
Only need 1 RFD to do this. He'll use a courier authorised to handle firearms to collect it from the seller.

Never heard of that Pete, I thought it had to always go RFD to RFD... Then you have to collect it from your nominated RFD who will charge too. Peter De La Mare
Ya, it's cheaper with one RFD. Go to the one nearest you, he'll arrange courier from selller and do your paperwork. Either way there'll be a courier involved, this way there'll be only 1 RFD charge.
Peter De La Mare
A quick search produced this from the ever helpful Clayman. What the law allows is for an RFD to appoint an agent or servant to carry a gun in broken down condition without cartridges on their behalf. So I can send an employee to collect or deliver a gun as they are acting on my instruction. The Gun Trade Association has negotiated an arrangement that allows GTA member RFDs to use the secure services of TNT to collect and deliver guns. A gun can be collected from a SGC holder by an RFD, but not delivered to one, only to another RFD. Parcel Force do accept guns, but in the same way as TNT, only from approved account holders who are declaring what is in the shipment. If you just bung a gun in the post, the handlers have no idea of the contents and have not therefore been appointed as legal servants or agents carrying the gun on behalf of the RFD. For every gun I have collected or ship I am required to: Declare the type of weapon and whether sec 1 or 2; Confirm its packing type; Confirm there is no amo with it. All TNT drivers have to go through a training course to be able to carry "dangerous goods". So, the legal line is, that unless you arrange via an RFD, or are an RFD, you can't use post or couriers yourself, and if you are an RFD, its only legal if the carrier is appointed as your agent and knowingly carries the gun on your behalf. ME
If that's correct then I stand corrected.
Peter De La Mare
Clayman is a RFD, so I'd accept his word on this, plus Essex Gun outlined the same procedure (though not as elequently) when I enquired about shipping the Browning I was selling two years ago.
