pigeon controller
I've been out with DB today doing our bottle run to all the farms we shoot on and when we arrived at the last one we saw two hundred plus birds on the rape. We deliverd the bottle and wished him a Happy Christmas and asked if we could shoot. He said not untill mid January as I want the birds to graze the rape as there is too much leaf and it will stop the spray getting through. I,ve heard of grazing winter barley and wheat so that it throws up two or three shoots which then have heads on them in the summer for harvest but not grazing rape??? sako751sg
Doesnt matter how much leaf is eaten over winter with rape,as it doesnt effect the yeild any.Makes sense to keep it trimmed to allow the spray down to get to the weeds. Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
Hi Pigeon controller If you have a look though some of my posts I made when I first started a month or so a ago. You will see some of my comments ref when we use to use sheep to graze rape that was too advanced . Bacsically pigeons do no harm till roughly mid march maybe slighlty earlier if we have a warm spring. I have more detailed knowledge of this subject than the average pigeon shooter due to it us to be my job . Bascically pigeons only cause damage to certain crop at key points in it growing cycle other times they just feed with little or no affect on yields .
