albob
A quick update for those that are interested. I received two kits (1 full, 1 part kit) from very generous PW'ers. I had the .22 apart today and fitted the part kit (tube and new spring) which left me with a trigger pull of 1lb and 15oz (close enough to the 2lb I was after), there's no discernible creep, I gave it a good slap and bump test and tried the safety/ trigger test and it passed with flying colours! After a quick re-zero it's now transformed into a tack driver. The .17hmr is next (currently giving 4lb 12oz at the trigger) !! Thanks a million to Paul and Al who helped out with advice and a generous donation of the necessary parts. i`m glad you got it sorted and it improved the gun for you. thanks for the update and nice to hear how someone has gone on with a gun. al
sharpshot
why are you trusting the safety catch enough to carry the rifle around made ready to fire?
mick miller
That wasn't the issue. The issue was that if you chambered a round then flicked the safety on and then off the rifle would fire. Not exactly useful. So you spot a bunny, chamber a round then the rabbits runs off, you flick the safety on, move a short distance and flick the safety off and bang, not good. Of course, I know everyone always clears their chamber before moving off ten yards or so don't they?

I take it you've never been stalking then
njc110381
I've scared loads of animals off by needing to load a round! Their hearing is so much better than ours, that little metallic sound that you get when the round strips from the mag and rattles the bolt face is far too loud! To you it's not much, but to them it probably sounds like a drunk man falling over a dustbin full of beer cans! There's nothing wrong with carrying a loaded rifle. It's very common to do so.
