shoot57
with cartridge reloading I've always used rem large rifle primers simply because that's what my local shop stocks, but i bought a pack of winchester primers the other day my question is, are they any hotter or just the same as the rem ones? seeker
As Jan says ... Apparently the WLRs run hotter than Rems ... There's a list somewhere .. but can't remember where (Lyman or Lee perhaps??) .. try googling "primers & brisance".
shoot57
thanks seeker, just looked at that site and sure enough the rem seems to be one of the milder primers, which explains why i never seem to reach the expected vel of my home loads using the hodgdon chart as they use win primers, I'm not using the max load in my 243 so i will check the vel using the wins and the same powder charge.....again thanks for the info
