clone
i need to practice with my gun, loads of practice i have a little land which i can shoot over over but only on saturday evenings which is great but i must admit afer 2 hunting trips i have taken 1 rabbit and unfortunatly only hurting a couple more, so i belive that i should leave the rabbits to graze while i do some rocky style training, however i cannot find a gun club anywhere near me, i need some solid advice from people who know what they are talking about and can help me improve my rang finding skills and my aim i live in the midlands near coventry and would appreciate anyone who can help me find a club where i can practice so that when i go hunting i dont go hurting the poor rabbits and get great clean painless kills
Graham20g
Hi CLONE .have you tried going to your ground not for hunting just for practice, pace out 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 yd's respectively ateach mark leave two target's one small and one larger. alternate between them randomly by doing this you will get used to the amount of hold over/under you need for each range also you will start to have a better idea of distance as you know it's all down to practice and if you are on your own there are less distraction's and you dont have to wait for joe blogg's to have his turn on the range. Fieldcraft can be hard to learn but when you get it right it's so rewarding and you never forget it, just get a bit rusty!! HOPE THIS HELP'S CLONE !!!!!!!!!!! Good luck n keep trying Graham :(
clone
i have tried that but now its getting dark early its kinnda hard to see the targets i have tried doing it with a lamp but tis real hard work, and i cannot shoot during the day cos of his kids and he runs a car valeting business so i cannot shoot there in the day and he only has i acre of land - so can you see my predicament

Graham20g
HI C. Yep I see your problem now, is there a local T.A. in tour area ifso they may have a range and if you ask the Sgt nicely he may let you use it with them who know's anything's worth a try ,G,
Sergeant
In my experience, trying to use a military range with a personal weapon is nigh well impossible due to a aparently MASSIVE paper trail! It may be that mine is a rifle and they may well view an air rifle differently. Field craft is very hard to learn, You can do as many night exercises with your (unarmed!!) mates to practice and avoid them ever time, but I find wabbits a lot harder to trick, even with the long range of a rimmy. blackthorn
forgot about the jag shot there a couple of times its an indoor 22 rim fire range they let you use air rifles there as well. be prepared for the introductory talk
clone
yeah i had the talk but he kept it short, one thing that i found slightly strange was the look of disgust when i pulled out a springer, and they advised me to rest my arms when shooting, dont get me wrong they are trying to be helpfull and seem a great buch of lads but i like to practice the way i am going to shoot in the field - but i must admit that my aim standing is real poor though
blackthorn
at the jag range there used to be a side on the left you could practice. it had a knock down and a few spinners
