Jimny owners advice wanted

Hi,

I have finally decided that the family car(Nissan Primera 2001) has to go and a Jimny to be bought to facilitate the shooting on a weekend, kids are more than capable now to walk to school, so time to sort myself out, shooting days are the most miles I travel other than a daily trip of 2 miles to my work and back,

I have read most of the posts on here about all the different types, and found that a Jimny would best suit the needs.

So I'm asking any Jimny owners, what can I expect to get for about £2000+, what are the sort of things to look out for, when buying one, what are servicing costs like, best tyres, extras?? etc, general things to be aware of ,

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Alan

The 1300cc engine lets the Jimny down, along with the MPG it gets, depending how you drive it, 30-35 mpg...& inside it's a bit small.

Being reading about conversions for them, VW, & Pegueot 1.9 Diesels will fit apparently.

Plus side, good little shooting motor, & it'll go anywhere all the other 4 x 4 will go.

BJ.

I find that handling of the jimny on the road is **** thats with my ordinary road tyres, dont know it AT tyres will make a difference. I rarely take it above 60 if you go 70mph it uses a hell of alot of fuel.

Check that the 4x4 system is working.

Bazooka Joe if I decided to change the engine would that be the only thing I will need to change? Be excellent to have a jimny with a diesal engine.
