soreshoulder
ive got a Side by Side i want to buy from an RFD. Bear in mind i am 16 and hold a SGC and share a cabinet with my brother. My brother is 20 and all of the guns in the cabinet are on both of our licences by being gifted various gun by my gramp. Ok so i realise i cant 'buy' the shotgun but my brother can. If the paperwork was done with the RFD what would my brother simply gift me the Shotgun aswell as using it himself with a letter to the police or would he just write a letter saying we are going to share the gun once he has bought it? Ferret Master
He has to buy it, however if you are going to both have access to it, then you need the gun on both of your certificates. FM

FM yep, but would you go about 'putting' on both of our certificates?
Gix
I'm sharing my cabinet with my old man, I asked the question about what guns have to be on whose cert and he said that only my gun on my cert and visa versa for the old man, he said the info gets put on the computer and it makes the link with whoever you share the safe with. Give your FEO a call and check with him. Cheers Gix.
Gix
To add he also said to take copies of any letters / forms you send to the firearms dept as sometimes things get lost / not entered and if you have a copy when the FEO nexts visits and finds a gun in your safe which isn't known to them it will help. Cheers Gix.
George1990
I put Shared under where it says bought, inherited etc. and set a cover letter saying that we both have access to the gun and gave the certificate numbers etc on the letter. Same for the FAC guns.
