Tis1979
I need to sort a lot of rabbits this year and want to know what people think of NV scopes on air guns (Non FAC), controlling factors being cost vs benefits, Zooms & clear images at shorter ranges, weight of scope + lens doubler and extra iR. Any thoughts would be great also any models people think are best suited. I do have experience in Nv and own a night scope very old though Vomz Gen 1+ Many thanks Tristram
steve_b_wales
I use a Cobra Merlin with DSA on my .22LR /.243. Added IR is by means of a scope mounted Blazerlite with IR filter. Clear vision is possible for up to 250 yards.

steve_b_wales
Gen 1, but absolutely brilliant. Highly recommended. Also used by DIGIT on this forum, who has one too.

young airgunner
how does that work then steve? do you have it mounted to your scope somehow or is it used purely as a NV monocular?
steve_b_wales
It's a monocular that attaches to your scope via an adaptor, called a DSA (day scope adaptor) It works better if your scope is Parallax Adjustable, but can still be used on other scopes. I recommend you use a lamp with IR filter to get better 'light', although the built in IR illuminator is good to about 50 yards.

Carbonrocket
Here is the Yukon DSA unit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d27bmajKFI4 But use a good dedicated IR emitter, I have found nothing else better and I have tried to make LOTS! An adjustable IR laser is by far the best and makes night like looking through a green filter in the day!
