sanibel686
Thank you for all the PM's and interest in the gun it is now sold pending. This is an english hammer gun with 30" brls choked 1/4 and full. The brls are recently professionally reblued, they have a couple of very small pits in otherwise faultles bores with no scoring or other signs of wear and very useable being nitro proofed. Lockup is tight. Length of pull is 14 1/4" to front trigger. The engravings of the dog & pheasants are very nice & the camera doesn't do them justice. The forend has a horn tip. I would like to trade for a 20g or 28g sbs or a 20g semi auto (not Turkish please) or even an Alan Woood small skinner. There is no maker name, as was quite common at the time. sanibel686
very nice how much for cash. I hadn't really wanted to go down the cash route as I was wanting to swap one nice gun for another nice gun! but I if I were to put a value on it I would guess £275 - £
sanibel686
Forgot to mention that the chambers are nitro proofed at 2 1/2" not 2 3/4"
bg55599
I have a similar hammer gun but mine isnt proofed for nitro. If any one is interested in this gun I would say they are definately worth it even if its jsut to be the talking point. I shot a round of sporting clays with mine using black powder cartidges, by the end of the first stand half the club had come to look and see what it was! masmiffy
I have a very similar looking hammer gun in my cabinet. Must be an earlier version as it is an under lever. Also the fore end has a bar retention and the same horn fore end cap. Butt plate is steel! Nice stock in excellent condition with a 'silver' oval. It originally had damascus barrels, wish I still had them if just for show! My dad had it sleeved and re proofed by Elderkins of Spalding. Could be tempted to sell it!
