fletcher1234565
Just tried filling a business card out but struggled to fill it out. What can you put on them to let farmers / landowners know that you are available to help with pest control without sounding like you are a professional. I don't want to give them the wrong idea. This is only a hobby to me and would be very grateful for any opportunitys to shoot vermin. Personally i think that face to face would be better but business cards are good way to get your name out there. Any other suggestions of finding permissions for a hobbyist shooter are very welcome. Basically i am doing this in trying to find myself some permissions for pigeon and rabbit shooting I am just in the process of getting my BASC membership so will have full insurance. Also taking up clays to get me started and learn. I have also posted on this site that i am willing to help out on a shoot, just so i can learn from a seasoned professional if there are any out there willing to take me out just to watch and learn then please let me know. bothbarrels
H fletch. before you put anything on the cards, if you hav'nt done so already, you should join the BASC, this will let the farmer know you have insurance, and are serious about your sport. I got my cards from http://www.shootingcards.co.uk/Store/index.php ... again you may have already discovered this site and intend using it. most of us guys on here do this as our 'hobby' and not a full time profession, although you may not be a 'professional', you really want them to know that you will act like one when on their land and have total respect for livestock/boundarieds ect. My cards are written out as. Sussex Crop & Grass Protection Fully liscenced & insured BASC member Total respect for property and land assured Free service to Farmers & Landowners Contact detalis............................. I have sent these out with a covering letter to both farms, golf clubs & equestrian centers I can send you the letters to copy if you'd like. I also think you should definately get as much practice in as possible so you become a competent shot, dispatching your quarry in the quickest manner is of the uptmost importance, and something you should really be able to do consistentley. The guys on this site are very friendly and helpful, I'm sure if you keep asking, someone will be willing to take you out to gain more experience, with decoy patterns hide building etc, there's a lot to learn! Good luck and keep us posted. BB.

I know most people will know what to expect but you know what some people are like these days I am going to call BASC before i even contemplate getting the guns from the cabinet. Hopefully after a bit of practising with others and on the clays also some time and effort i may have my own permissions to shoot. Thanks again Edited February 18, 2010 by fletcher1234565
bicykillgaz
definately get your cards from http://www.shootingcards.co.uk/Store/index.php i have just got some and there great but to be the only thing i forgot to put on mine was that it was a free service i think if you use the same format as BB you'll be fine mate, most people know a proffesional who is after work isn't gonna write the words free on his buisness card. plus john bloor at shooting cards is a great guy who offers a brilliant service, my cards had a spelling mistake on them nothing serious but but i asked john if it was my mistake as if it was i would have left it and bought some more at a later date, but he double checked and admitted it was his fault and is sending out a new set free of charge and rang me to let me know he had posted them. mine say MY NAME vermin control *FAC & shotgun certificate holder *moderated guns for noise sensitive areas (horse paddocks, stables, barns and farm buildings) *all land, animals & property respected PHONE NUMBER BASC sign so they know i'm insured i just wish i'd had 'free and friendly service' added to it but i'll add that on the next lot i order, but if you add the word free i think they'll take it your not a proffesional mate. good luck anyway
