gixer1
Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the Swarovski PV 2.5-10 x 56 Habicht scopes? Regards, Gixer
al4x
possibly not the magnification range I would choose but one of the best scopes you can get

al4x
I'd have liked a higher mag top end and starting about 6x
Beardo
ditto on the mag - got one and love it
harv
i would say the 10x is more then you need on a quality glass like that, lots of mil-spec sniper scopes are fixed at 10x engaging targets at a 1000yds plus
Beardo
yeah but they're man size targets in the day, not foxes and rabbits at night under a lamp! Edited February 19, 2010 by nickbeardo
al4x
10x is a bit too close to just having a fixed 8x56 for me. Instances when i'd want to back it off to 2.5 don't really exist for me. But if you're into stalking and may need some super close shots I can see it being usefull
harv
yeah but they're man size targets in the day, not foxes and rabbits at night under a lamp! i have seen plenty of v bulls at 600 yds with these scopes not to mention it could be for deer, african game and the higher the mag the less light in your scope at night. monkeymagic1969
the higher the mag the less light in your scope at night. Well said that man - my scopes never go above 10 or 12 x power at night
gixer1
it'll mostly be for roe stalking, foxing (from high seat and lamping) and the occasional red so should be fine hopefully.....scrapping the 6.5 x 55 idea.... Beardo
I've got a fixed 8x56 for stalking, and it's great, but i struggle to shoot foxes at 200 yards at night with lower than 12x - i just can't see well enough. isn't a V-bull at that range 16" though? To be honest the vast majority of my shooting is done well under 200 yards, and especially so if it stalking (like to get as close as possible)
Beardo
please don't get me wrong, i'm not wanting an argument nor am i detracting from what i'm sure you'll find an excellent scope - like i say, i've got a Swrovski and i love it.
