JollyJohn
I will be purchasing a couple of CZs soon, for bunny bashing and ground vermin. I'll have .22LR amd .17 HMR, both with mods. Looking at the CZ range of rifles, there seems to be a bewildering choice of barrel lengths, 28", 21" & 16", and heavy or light options. I've used sub 12ftb. air up to now, so all this is new to me, what would you go for in the CZ range? John.
Dekers
I will be purchasing a couple of CZs soon, for bunny bashing and ground vermin. I have, or have had, CZ rimfires of .22lr, HMR and WMR with barrel lengths of 16, 19, 20, 21, 22 inches! Shooting wise I can't say I have known any difference in accuracy levels, but I'm not Olympic standard! The shorter the barrel the easier to use out of a vehicle and the less chance you have of catching it on overhanging branches/shrubbery when it's over your shoulder. Many have a moderator fitted these days so this can make the barrel very long!! For general field work I see no advantage whatsoever for heavy barrels, just a heavier lump to carry around. All my rifles are "light", even my centrefires, as they are hunting tools which I use down the range for "fun" and zeroing! Some like heavy barrels in the field, fine, it's a free world, whatever suits you! Edited February 21, 2010 by Dekers
Pipmoff
16" light weight barrels would be my choice. My HMR is the 16" heavy barrel varmint and is a good bit heavier to lug around than the standard 16" .22. There is no accuracy difference with the shorter barrels.
