Oly Posted February 22, 2010 Report Share Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) You don't want to go much shorter than 22" on a 243 Win as being a fast round it needs a good length of barrel to burn all the powder. At 22" you shouldn't see any difference in accuracy and minimal mv difference too. Mine didn't even change POI! 20" is possible and a lot will tell you that it doesn't effect accuracy, but you mv's will be down quite a bit too. Get a good well known gunsmith to do it as the crowning is vital...if your having is screw cut at the same time they should also be able to make you a lovely invisible thread protector out of the chopped bit of barrel too.
