TomV
I'm looking at a Vitara tomorrow. What are some things I should be watching out for as I've not bought a 4x4 before
vampire
When i was looking at suzuki 4x4s found lots but got put off at the prospect of buying a motor that could need a lot of welding,so bought a frontera and have been happy so far.Is it for shooting Look for all usual stuff + in a 4x4 check all gears work in four wheel drive, listen for cluncking/grinding,also check underneath for impact damage, worn prop, cracked diff, brake pipes, suspension,CHASSIS AND FLOOR PAN FOR RUST,and mud in foot wells as this rusts through, damaged tyres. It will be a multi-use vehicle - going to and from work and as a shooting vehicle at weekends. Will look out for the points you mention, thanks

Conygree
Only see it at the address on the V10 form and take a mate along who knows a bit about motors, so he can be detached from buying plus two sets of eyes are better. Remember most 4x4's never go off road, just have a simple walk around for starters - gives you time to assess the guy selling - then the motor And check all the dash lights inc the seat belt indicator as air bag units are very expensive Edited February 25, 2010 by pigeon popper
TomV
Been to look at the motor, doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it. It has a tow bar fitted, what should I be looking for in regard to this?
