crocket
Hi I am having a few problems with the rubber butt plate on my Browning. Frequently when shoulding the gun the soft rubber butt plate catches my clothing thus the gun is not shouldered correctly. I have used a gun with a normal plate as all seen well. Q1 Is the a cure ? Q2 Where can I buy a new thinner black butt plate? George Orwell: "That rifle on the wall of the labourer's cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there." Edited October 16, 2005 by crocket

apbuild
Go to a gunsmith and get a plastic or leather pad fitted. Should cost around £40-. Rob.
caragh
Hi You could try rubbing some powdered French Chalk ( bike puncture repair kit stuff) on it. This should make the surface smoother and is very cheap regards steve
apbuild
It does the trick short term Caragh, but for a solid full time job, Crocket, bite the bullet and get it replaced. I had a Pachmayr rubber rifle butt pad on my MK60 and had it replaced for a leather one. Top job by the gunsmith and so much easier to mount the gun. Rob. crocket
Cheers, it looks like I will have to bite the bullet, its off to the gunsmiths. Dunkield
I had a similar problem with my Beretta, and had a bacolite type but plate fitted when I had the butt extended. They used to come with a rubber pad which is absolutely useless for 'gun down' shooting. As Browning already do the butt plates you need a gunsmith should be able to do quite a neat job.
