the works all been done when you got your shotgun so as long as you have a reason for the gun you chose and some land to shot on you wont hav a problem.

as for which rifle .222/.223./22.250 or maybe a .17

keith

hi keith

thanks for the reply is it more exspensive than a shotgun to keep how much would a full set up cost ( rifle. silencer . and scope ) and what is the price of ammo.

thanks john

While I personally would opt for the 17HMR for rabbit shooting it would depend on if your area constabulary will allow a 17HMR for foxes. Some do and some don't even though it has been proven time and time again that it is more than capable of taking care of Charlie very humanely. It not you will have to go for a center fire (.222, .223. 22-250, etc) 0r a .22 Hornet. The drawback of any of the centerfires that I have listed in brackets is that unless you head shoot all of your rabbits they might be a bit of a mess when shot!

If you do opt for a 17HMR you can expect to pay around £300 - £350 for a new rifle, whatever your limit is for a scope (Anything from about £50 to over £500, mine cost me around £30 but I had to shop around and was lucky) and about £30 - £35 for an SAK moderator which works well on the 17HMR. As for ammo you can expect to pay anything from £10 to £15 for a box of 50 rounds!

The Firearms Enquiry Team will need to see writtten permission from the land owner stating what he will allow you to shoot, and what calibre as this is your first FAC. They will probably limit you to shooting on land approved for that particular calibre for at least the first year. If the land owner already has the land approved by the local constabulary then things will be alot easier for you.
