Lunn
I just need some advice on some matters on applying for an FAC. I'll be using it for target shooting and pest control so ive decided on a .22LR -For land I have around 15-20 acres with a fair few hills and embankments to stop the bullet. Will that do? I think it may have been included in land already cleared for a .223 anyway. -What would be the best all round rifle for target shooting and rabbiting at around £300 - £500? -How much ammo should I put down for normal and expanding ammunition and where do I put that it is expanding? -When the police inspect the land will they come to me to then take them round the land or will they go straight to the owner? Thanks
Colster
As far as the land goes, just ring your local Firearms Office, they'll tell you over the phone whether it's been surveyed and up to what calibe, usually just goes FAC Air, .22RF, .22CF then .243 and above. If it hasn't been surveyed then you can still use that land on your application but the survey will have to be done prior to you getting your cert. For a rifle, you needn't really look any further than a CZ452, personally I'd pay the extra for a 16" barrel one. 1000 to buy, 1200 to hold or 500 to buy, 750 to hold is usual. If you're putting vermin down as a reason then expanding should be added as a condition by default but it's worth checking, you don't need a condition for solid ammo and your ammo allowance is collective, so not 750 of each for example. For the land survey, they will usually just ring the landowner, some FEO's might ask you to attend as well but that's never been the case for me. Hope this helps. Lunn
Thanks for the advice I think ill put down 500 to buy 750 to hold. I just hope it wont be too hard to get a left handed version. I put down moderator as a separate firearm. Thanks

Lunn
Im left handed and shoot 2 x CZ's which are right handed without any problems Les I just find it annoying to have to take your right hand off the gun to use the bolt. Are left handed versions more expensive?
