webber
Around this time last year I posted that I and others had decided to resign from the syndicate in which we had been involved for several years. I later posted that we had been successful in obtaining positions in a Cheshire syndicate which looked very promising. They do say that the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and that has certainly proved to be the case. Whilst the social side of the syndicate is 1st. class, I found the gamekeeping and shoot management to be lacking in several areas of importance, in fact they were abysmal, and I and a few others had the balls to say so and try to rectify the situation, proved what could be achieved, and offered members an alternative at the AGM. Sadly our efforts were not appreciated, and the majority of our nominations and proposals were defeated at the AGM, albeit by only a couple of votes. I had previously been threatened that if I didn't wind my neck in I would not be invited to shoot there again; and the treasurer had also received similar threats; it therefore came as no surprise when I received a letter in this mornings post confirming what I had suspected for some time. Don't come next season, you're not invited. The now former treasurer and founder member has also been ousted. Another founder member and former secretary has also been refused membership this season on the grounds of restructuring, whilst new members last season have maintaned their positions. I'm afraid that the members will get the shoot that they deserve, good luck to them, they'll need it. In anticipation that we may be booted I and a few others have discussed forming a roving syndicate, we have already identified a number of potential venues which have offered let days, we therefore are now seeking a few experienced guns who are BASC members to join us. The majority of potential venues are in the South Cheshire and North Wales border areas, although nothing is firmly established yet. The PW Roving Syndicate will therefore probably only be of interest to PW members located in Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, North Shropshire, North Wales. At the moment we are proposing to shoot on Saturdays and buy 5 let days of 80 to 100 birds at up to £250 per day, spread across the season; the proposed fee is therefore £1250. Please indicate your interest on here and please PM your email address. webber

webber
Sorry Doc, I was planning on a meeting not a banquet, but the food at the venue that I have in mind for the meeting is excellent. I intend to call a meeting next Wednesday evening. I'll be sending an email out to all interested parties this evening after I have visited the venue to check that they are OK with the meeting. webber

webber
10WM and I have decided to break some clays; or at the very least have a good go. We've decided to go to Lupton on Saturday and to Kelbrook on Sunday, we are aiming at being at both venues for 11am. We would be pleased to meet any PW member who is interested in the PW Rovers Shooting Syndicate, or who just want to meet up. Please PM me for further details if required. Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday and other documents will be emailed to members whom expressed an interest in joining the syndicate shortly. webber
webber
10WM and I went to Lupton today, and met up with new to shooting jonc30, who shot very well for a beginner. We bumped into BlaserF3 briefly, hopefully we'll have time for a proper chat on another occasion. We're off to Kelbrook tomorrow, DaveTG will be joining us, but we have revised the arrive time to noon. webber
webber
10WM, DaveTG, and I had our shoot at Kelbrook today. No other PW members joined us; we can but offer. 10WM shot 76 ex 100, I shot 66 ex 100 not bad for me, all things considered; I won't mention the score of DaveTG as I would hate to get some of our Southern members who are shooting in the Hodnet charity shoot spitting feathers. I would appreciate decisions from members whom have received information as soon as possible. If we are unable to fill all places with PW members we will seek none PW members to fill the few remaining vacancies. webber

Well shot Webber & co, was it the compact you shot at Kelbrook or did they have a true sporting layout? It's at least 5 years since I shot up there, since they stopped holding competitions but it is a very similar ground to Hodnet so would be good practice for the big day. Shouldn't need too much practice though, as if 10WM is who I think it is he has a proven track record at that ground as a memorial shoot winner I'm gutted I can't join you as a member of your wandering troop but will pm you later (nearer the start of the season) to see if I can take up (buy) the odd day IF a syndicate member can't shoot on a particular date. Well shot once again Mr Potter

Well shot once again Mr Potter We shot the 100 bird sporting, which utilises a few stands on each layout. You're top of the list if we need a stand in gun. webber

webber
Gents I've received several PMs from PW members who are interested in taking one or two days with the syndicate; this could get messy, but has made me think. I'm now contemplating offering a 60:40 Associate Membership. The idea works thus: One Associate member agrees to take 2 days; a second Associate Member agrees to take 3 days shooting; we therefore have one vacancy filled. I feel that this idea should work well, and be attractive to PW members who wish to experience the benefits of syndicated full driven Pheasant shooting without incurring the full cost of syndicate membership. Anyone interested? webber
