Kron
This is not an attempt to rile all you spaniel aficionados. Just an odd thing that happened today. Took my sister's dalmatian for a walk by the Trent in Nottingham today. If you know the area it is the section near Wilford which can't be more than 2 miles from the city centre. The dog is very well trained and will walk at heel off the lead for any length of time. Anyway we were walking along when she suddenly darted into some cover next to a tree I had carried on when I heard a familiar sound from behind me. I looked back to see a hen pheasant take off. Two things surprised me: 1 That a dog with absolutely no gundog instincts (she is scared of her own shadow and will not come near me when I am cleaning my gun) picked up the scent and flushed a bird. 2 That there are pheasants so close to Nottingham city centre - although can't see me getting permission to shoot that particular stretch. Maybe there is hope for her after all.
Lloyd90
All dogs got noses lol. Lots of breeds can flush one pheasant. Always nice to see the dog put one up when your not expecting it I love it when my Lab puts up wild pheasant, snipe or woodcock when out on a walk
