adam1
Is there any milage in putting a dead rabbit or the like out to one side of ( say 30 yards) of your pigeon pattern to try intrest the crows at the same time, and what about a magpie decoy over the top of it to bring them mocking, i've used this method by its self and it seems to be quite effective but will it keep the pigeons away? Cranfield
I would recommend you watch pigeons feeding, see what is happening around them that they are use to seeing and will feel confident with. On some crops you get the crows/rooks feeding near the pigeons, on others you don't. Pigeons don't need much of a disturbance to send them off the field. I would think crows mobbing a magpie decoy would do just that. Probably best to keep these activities separate.
adam1
Chreers Cranfield, I take it a rabbit by itself and leave the magpie decoy out of it is a no go then aswell.
unclestuffy
We have been shooting before with pigeon decoys and a crow decoy at the edge of the pattern and a crow came into the pattern. Tried decoying with a dead squirrel in the field behind and got no takers in either decoyed pattern - just one day so not very scientific
