Dodgemball
Can anyone tell me anything about these moderated shotguns good or bad. I'd particularly like to know the best carts to use for quietness and the max range for clean kills on rabbits. Many Thanks
debaser
Hello, I've got a moderated .410 mossburg pump, there both chambered for 3 inch cartridges so should be fairly similar, although I think think the Baikal is a little more quiet. There is a review of the Baikal here :http://gunmart.net/gun_review/york_guns_baikal_stealth_.410_shotgun/ Personally for rabbits I use Eley 3 inch 18 grams number 6's (not the subs) and keep the range to 20 yards max, I know some will say 30 yards even 35 but you really have lost your pattern at these ranges. In honesty I think the moderated .410s are superb mice/ratting tools but not great for rabbits as you need to get quite close. It might just be my field craft is rubbish. Cheers, Dan PS If your ever passing near by you welcome to give me a shout and have a go of my .410 in my little field.
chrispti
They are very good tools for rabbits mate. I use Gamebore 76mm 16g of #6. Use it mostly for lamping
