canthitathing
Has anybody done much shooting at Ashcome clay ground? I'll be in South Devon Next week and was wondering whether to give it a try.

MartynGT4
Let us know how you get on if you do pay them a visit. Have access to a caravan about 10mins from there and I'm thinking of using Ashcombe as my regular 'away' shoot :-)
Scott82
Has anybody done much shooting at Ashcome clay ground? I'll be in South Devon Next week and was wondering whether to give it a try. Hey I went there about 4 years ago on a trial day (hired a gun there) learnt alot (most of which I have now forgotton.) As a begginer I'm not sure how varied the traps/stands are but from what I remember it was a good afternoon, friendly tuition, cosy club house, what more do you need? Oh and I got my springer from apx 3 miles from there. If I could remeber their name I'd gladly post it here because they were great breeders. And one last thing...... I know a few people who wildfowl on the Ex, I'm not sure what permission they have/need but a beautiful river and lots of birds. Hope this helps. scuta
Hey! It's takes a special type of skill to miss as many as I do Think I,ll give it a go. Thanks for replies I've been to Ashcombe a few times over about 4/5 years. Very friendly ground in a nice setting and some good targets, although they are all geared up for corporate days and not a dedicated clay ground, so the clays haven't changed over the time I've been there. O.K for the odd visit, but not for regular shooting IMHO. If you're in that neck of the woods, try Newnham Park, fantastic scenery and targets. I'd go as far as to say one of the best sporting grounds in the country. Hope that assists and happy shooting S

Thanks for the heads up, I was due to make my annual pilgrimage in two weeks time. You've just saved me one hell of a wasted (500 mile) journey.
