bicykillgaz Posted March 31, 2010 Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 hi guys i've recently got a hw77k which is ingood condition but the blueing is very thin and stock has a few scratches, non of it is urgently needed but i i want to give it a make over eventually and wondered what i need, can you buy complete kits? i'm not after anything special/dear as its only gonna be a knockabout gun but i just want to protect it so it lasts. i'm also gonna re-do the stock on my cz varmint if the stock works out ok on hw as the laquer has flaked off in a little patch so i'd rather get it sorted, i want to make it a little different is there anyway i can stain is a dark green? and would i be best oiling it or laquering it after i've stained it? any advice would be more than welcome so cheers in advance gary Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Paddy Galore! Posted March 31, 2010 Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) firstly nitromors to strip the old varnish, then boiled linseed oil and turps mix, then just boiled linseed oil. G96 is fairly good for re blueing, tried some on an old tx200 once and it worked a treat. ps, plenty of sand paper and some wire wool, the fine stuff.
