nv add on's question

hi guys

i've been looking into getting a nv add-on for some time now and a couple of oppertunities may be arising, i know you can use them on pcp, rimfire and centerfire but can you use them on a spring powered air rifle? i know air rifle's have a different sort of recoil to other guns and can knacker some scopes so would it be the same with an add on?

i've been after one for my .22lr but have just got a hw77k and its got a real long scope rail and i would be able to push the scope far enough forward to be able to have the add-on in pretty much normal position i would a day scope, so was thinking of leaving it mounted on there most the time and pimping my self out for some serious ratting, plus my main piece of land at the minute isn't suitable for a rimfire and top end has a road along it and one side has a farm track which some dog walker seem to like, so although its safe to shoot from those edges inwards it not safe to shoot along them with my .410 hushpower, so the proposed new set up would be ideal for it

i'm gonna get one of the add-ons regardless but don't want to trash it so if you do or have used one or if its a big no no please let me know.

hi Gary.

as long as your mounts are good quality and preferbly one piece, you should have no problem mounting NV on your weirhauch. although, springers with heavy recoil can often benefit from a block at the back of your scope rail (easily fotted by any gunsmith) to stop the dreaded 'creep' this will mean that your scope is rock solid on your rifle and won't creep back over time.

cheers for the replies,

i thought that might be the case i'm looking at a yukon styled add-on kit which comes with the extra illuminator and mounting bracket and was gonna wedge a rubber block under the nv to minimise the recoil, do you think that would help or am i p*****g in the wind? i've got a one piece mount but its a low/med mount, i was hoping to shove a bigger scope on to give me a better field of view and would need to put standard bracket on, so i guess that might not be a good choice.

on the yukon site the picture/drawing shows it on a springer so thought it might be ok, but do i really want to find out the hard way :good:

NV on springers is a no no ok on pcp or rf cf double shuffle of springer wrecks electrics

i thought so, cheers for confirming it though mate, i'll just stick it on the .22lr then and maybe look to upgrade to a pcp in the future and just stick with a lamp on the hw77k

cheers again everyone :)
