Hubertus
I was just wondering if pigeons can see the movement of a pecker decoy. I wouldn't think that . Are they really attracted by a pecker? Who have used one and what was the experience? Hubertus
invector
You could try sticking your pecker out of the hide and hope a pigeon lands on it!!
Cranfield
I think any movement in a decoy pattern has to be good, but apart from on drillings, I have not been impressed with the visibility of the pecker decoy. I will stick to floaters, flappers and the rotary.
Hubertus
Thanks for your answers! Cranfield, so you mean that flapper, bouncer and magnet are better because of more movement? Did i understand you right? HUbertus
invector
Peckers give a bit of movement, similar to decoys on spring sticks. Flappers simulate pigeons landing, with their wings flapping, and are more likely to attract birds with their movement. Rotaries also show birds landing, with much more movement, but are sometimes offputting to pigeons as they approach your decoys. The latest rotary allows the pigeons wings to flap and adds even more movement. It`s swings and roundabouts!!
Cranfield
Hubertus, thats exactly what I mean. As invector said, the pecker's movement, is not much more than a decoy on a spring peg (just a bit more expensive), they are also useless on taller crops.
