Wesman
Hey up, I've got family in Lincolnshire and visit them regularly. I'm wanting a day on the pigeons with protom, but as I'm visiting family, I'll have my gun with me for a couple of days without a safe. What can I do to keep everything safe and not fall foul of the law? Or should I just take my gun home and come back.
wymberley
Hi, Why not ask protom (nicely) if he'll look after it for you (72 hour rule). Cheers

What can I do to keep everything safe and not fall foul of the law? Or should I just take my gun home and come back. I did this recently, I called Derbyshire and asked them, I suggest you do the safe, just drop the firearms dept a call. They told me to split the gun, leave one bit in the car boot locked and stick one under the bed or in a cupboard in the house, that was deemed reasonable security precautions as far as they were concerned. I also has a trigger lock fitted to it.
Wesman
I'll give them a call and make sure I'm ok to break the gun up. It makes sense to break the gun up. I'll be arriving late in Lincoln on Friday, will be with family Saturday and shooting Sunday so it'd be difficult to store the gun anywhere. CharlieT
When I take mine away with me which I do quite often in the season I chain it to a radiator or some other fixture and hide the forend separately.
