Bloke
Most of the time I have to use disabled access minibuses to go to the shooting ground and, as the previous posters say, I don't see why I should hide the fact that I am carrying a gun, however discretion says that unless I want the hassle that goes with it, a little 'balance' goes a long way. I use a Napier takedown gunslip, as much for ease of carrying a shotgun on a bus as the fact that it is not obviously a gun bag, although it does suggest some form of sport equipment. This occasionally results in a conversation about what is in the bag and if I do decide to say what it is, many of the people are suprised that is does not 'look like a gun' - gives me a chance for a little pro-shooting education, usually positive. Anti's just shut their trap and refuse to talk to me (Fine !!!) - but as I live in a very rural area, most of the older people are clued in and positive about shooting and yak away for hours about their youth and poaching during WWII etc, etc. The bus company are fine, they just politely request that I keep the gun covered in some way - slip or case, while travelling and (obviously someone in the bus company knows a bit about guns) preferably disassembled, to deter thieves, although they do not insist on this at all. Because I am the original paranoid android and want to keep my SGC, the gun usually either has a trigger lock on, or I use the Napier locking hasp and a big padlock, and I usually have the forend in the pocket of my jacket, belt and 2 pair of braces I know, but the last thing I want is to be accused of not taking 'all reasonable precautions' if I got challenged. Scarpa
I often have a shotgun in a slip bungeed to my mountain bike frame for visiting local shooting land in North Wales. I also use a motorbike with the slip over my shoulder, it adds to the look having a camo jacket on over the leathers
