Hi guys i have an qb/xs 79 and iv shot so many times to zero in (its so inaccurate ) i don't know if its the gun or the pellets.

i spent £200 on the stuff i have and im starting to go nuts with it i just feel like throwing the gun away.

im prepared to spend 300 to 400 quid but no more , some one tell me what gun to buy and what pellets to buy please.

Quite often it's a simple matter of re-crowning the barrel. Try different pellets, any gun can be pellet fussy even those costing £1000!!I've a QB79 that is very accurate and smooth after a full "fettling" There is a UK Chinese gun forum- they'll help you out.

CO2 guns are o.k. up to a point but they have drawbacks that make them inferior to pcp's in hunting situations.Simple answer to your question is anything modern by Air Arms firing the majority of the top 5 hunting pellets (there,s hundreds of threads on this site discussing which is best and for what) will put one pellet on top of another till the cows come home. You are in the driving seat so dont be tempted into a rushed decision-try various guns at local shops-you will know when you pick up the gun and shoot it if it is right or not.Dont forget that if you go down the pcp route you must budget for filling equipment-pumps are fine if you are healthy and dont shoot too often but a tank is the ultimate. You could try telling people on this site your location and ask if anyone is willing to take you out and let you have a go with their gun-you will learn more than at a dealer.

S400 will outshoot you all day long but then so will any AA gun made in the last 5 years-most before that will do it with ease as well.Sorry to see you cant find anywhere to shoot -if you were nearer i could find you plenty.Dont commit to the 400 until you have tried others-even the springers from AA are superb albeit not as easy to shoot as a PCP.As well as charging equipment you might like to consider a moderator cos PCP'S tend to emit quite a loud "crack" on firing (the list of bits seems endless).Considering your budget and the need for sights-mod-charging equipment-I would suggest a second hand set up-find which model you prefer via gunshops and then buy privately-most sellers who have been on this forum for a while are trustwothy so watch the ads.Dont dismiss the S200-its ugly but by god it shoots well.

pcp = pre charged pneumatic- means it has on board air supply ( cylinder in the gun) which you re-fill using a seperate pump or Divers bottle to a set pressure- to enable the firing of pellets-
