electric shock collar - problem barking terrier

Recommended Posts

i have got two terriers, one short legged jack russel type, and one long legged parson type. i have chickens, and they have got used to them - no barking, although they are not allowed loose with them (they will kill them). my neighbour has aquired chickens, and the parson has started going wild barking at them, i have put up new fencing, (which she has ripped down), all it needs is a tiny bit for her to look through and she is going wild (despite the fact that my own chickens are in full view and she ignores them). the yapping is getting my heavily pregnant other half very stressed.

i have tried everything i can think of to stop her barking, i brought one of those collars that spray water, one that emits a high pitched sound with barking - but it has made no difference - when she gets sight of the chickens next door - she is like a dog possesed.

so - would an electric shock collar stop this?

if so - can someone recommend me a good one? (will need to have a decent range on it)

simply it depends on the type not sure about anti barking electric ones but the normal collar will if you are about give you the upper hand. Terriers are determined but not stupid so I would say try and see if anyone local has one you can borrow, you may find you can sort it very fast then just buy a dummy collar and keep that on. Or I suppose you may need to renew the fencing for something more substantial, the other alternative is a bucket of water each time it does it
