At the moment where I am, I think morning is best, although I seldom get a chance to shoot in the mornings. If I had the day off I'd probably walk some of the field margins with shotgun and dog in the morning; in the evenings I go out with the air rifle and lamp (P7).

Evenings and Nights have been working well for me lately. I was on one of my permissions by 6 last night and shot until half 8 - 9 in the bag, just finished skinning and cleaning them out and they're now all salting in a bucket ready for making bunny burgers tomorrow.

I was doin' fine in the evenings until just a couple of weeks ago when the weather warmed up a bit - I'd spook the rabbits as I approached but knew they'd all come back out about ten minutes after I'd set myself up. In the sunny evenings right now however, if there are ANY on the field margins when I'm walking up, they disappear and don't seem to be very interested in coming back out again. They definitely seem to be hungrier in the mornings!

In the winter when they don't have young.

That doesn't really help crop protection does it?

I shoot all year round, in this weather I find late afternoons on the farm very productive, around 3-4 o'clock, but all rabbit communities are different.
