harv
Is it possible for somebody in the states to buy it for you then you purchase it off them as a secondhand gun and whilst on holiday in the usa collect and bring back with your shotgun certificate? Purely theoretical I have no idea but somebody must have got one back ?

RC45
I think the easiest way to do it is for a US citizen to buy it for you. He/She would then have to fly to the UK and then sell it to you, possibly with the help of an RFD, to assist with the paperwork. As for VAT and import duty, not sure, you would have to as the Customs and Exise people.

Purely theoretical I have no idea but somebody must have got one back ? US law forbids such transactions "straw purchase" and the penalties are severe for both parties. The only legal way to do it is to pay an agent to jump through all the export/import hoops, forms and fees and have it shipped to a UK rfd for conversion and proofing.
