Had a call from a lad i have had the shooting off for about 3-4 years asking if there was any chance of getting a lease for the shooting. Its an excellent place of about 140 acres, mostly wood and a superb influx of roe due to all the woods surrounding his land.I said no problem and we agreed a sum yesterday so went round to pay it at 2 oclock today.I took the dog and the gatt and after squaring up with him i went a walk to the usual valley hoping for a fox. There was no sign of anything except a few rabbits, but because the valley drops about 20 metres in about 20 metres you have to go right to the fence to see it all.Understand that??Nor do i,and i wrote it.On reaching the fence i saw two roe,one in full summer coat and the other half and half.Expecting two does,as i have already had 7 bucks in 9 outing there,i was surprised when the half and half stuck up his heed revealing a very nice set of head gear.Although they had no idea i was there, they were very flighty and almost in rut mode with him chasing her now and again so i had to keep moving along the fence line to keep in touch with them. After about 5 mins,he turned nicely broadside and on the shot he stood perfectly still for a couple of seconds before backing up and collapsing backwards. He is a mature buck with a nice set of antlers, and one i havent seen before. The pic is looking down to the ditch where he was from the firing point, probaly about 60-80 yards.

Also a couple of pics from yesterday.Took the wee man and Rab fishing to the Don and Rab sat like that in the water for over an hour. They both love the fishing and Rab will sit like that for hours waiting for the rod to go or a fish to jump.

Now come on man this is getting too much!

We know that Rab is something special being to flush, find and retrieve, but to catch fish as well, now that really is kicking the backside out of it (Next you'll be telling us that he's learned to how to pendelum cast as well)!!!!!!!!!!!!
