TJ91 Posted June 20, 2010 Report Share Posted June 20, 2010 looking for a 2nd hand semi auto for decoying pigeons, lamping, wildfowling, an all round 12 bore.... i use from 28gram 7s to 50gram 3s. i have been offered a remington 11-87 in very good condition.... i like the look of the gun and the feel... pros and cons please... any advice and experience of them would be very helpful, thanks guys Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Daveo26 Posted June 20, 2010 Report Share Posted June 20, 2010 Iv got the Special purpose 1187, and before that i shot an 1100 for years Pros are: its reliable and fairly bulletproof, feeds all cartridges, mine being the SP version is all matt black which makes it useful for pigeons. Millions of bits for them both add ons and standard parts, easily available! Negatives are: fairly heavy, Only a 3" chamber (some are 2 3/4") limits there use for fowling. Although they are reliable they do have some delicate bits that tend to break more than they should. Sensitive to not being cleaned and They take a bit longer than more modern semis to strip and clean. I like mine, it depends what model the one your looking at is as to how useful it will be for you.
