Sako85243
Hi all, guess some of you might have knowledge of or experienced this..... Can I put steel 28 gr 7.5's through my gun without wrecking it. It is fixed choke 3/4 and full (Miroku mk 38)...the book says max for steel is 1/2 choke. B) I know a guy who shot 1000 steel carts through his mk 38 and experienced absolutely no problems any opinions thanks Sako85243

Gareth0689
What I understand of the steel shot clay cartridges is the shot stays within the plastic wad whilst in the barrel and therefore doesn't come in contact with the barrel so it's fine to use in any gun with any chokes. I researched it as I was considering it and I shoot trap with full and extra full chokes.

Thats good to know as some of my local clay grounds are steel only, just a bit worried by what was in the book, and wonder why dont they just say all ok for no bigger than 4 didn't want my new gun ruined 2nd time out also found this when trawling the web for a definitive answer http://www.gamebore.com/page.php?id1=2&id2=1 thanks Sako85243 Edited June 29, 2010 by Sako85243

poontang
Personally i wouldn't risk it. I think Gamebore are the only manufacturer who say it's safe to shoot steel through such tight chokes. Almost everyone else recommend 1/2 choke as the tightest. It's your gun, so up to you, but bear in mind you'll get incredibly tight patterns shooting steel through 3/4 and full chokes. If it was me i think i'd get in touch with Miroku and see what they say.
