Colster
I have permission on the land at the back of my garden and the crop (wheat) will be harvested in the next few weeks. I'm thinking I could get myself a net and few decoys and have a good bag just by climbing through the hedge. For a noob to decoying how much am I looking at spending? I've found a 4m x 1.5m Jack Pyke Clearview net on that auction site for £18 which looks like it would do the trick but then I'm confused over decoys. Full bodied ones seem quite dear so will shells do? I assume most of you use the ones you shoot to expand your pattern so how many do you need to get them started coming in? Martin g
A dozen shell decoys will be fine to bring them in..
Tobyb525
All you really need to start is a net, set of half shell decoys and mayby a couple of floaters. Net - You really need a two ply net such as the stealth. With the clear view stuff I find you need another net on top of it so a ply net from day one will be best imo. Decoys - One set of half shells (10 or 12 decoys) will do. Don't buy the cheapys of ebay though as the paint just flakes off. A couple of bouncers, home made or bought will help also.
wymberley
Hello, mate. I know you're sensible, after all, you bought the VC, but too big a hole in that hedge could put paid to that permission pretty quick! Good luck. PS Unless it's yours of course. Good luck. Ah the land may be his but the hedge is mine and it's always had a hole in that I occasionally put some home made fox deterrent near just in case they see it as an easy route to my chickens. So basically around £50 would sort it then, 25 on decoys, same again on a net?
