Ireland's Finest!
At the recent Cla game fair I purchased the ranger jacket and pants (in AP) from Rivers West, I was very impressed by what the sellers had to say and the torture tests they showed, showed the material to be of great quality. I 've worn it every day since, bringing the dogs for walks etc Its's been raining here every day since aswell and they clothes have kept me completely dry and warm. The best outfit I've ever worn absolutely brilliant. Did anyone else purchase from Rivers West? What do you's find is the best way to dry the product after a days use? shakin stevens
Hi They was alot of gear at the gamefair from rivers west i did not buy any but have a rivers west wildfowling jacket shipped over from the states, its a wading jacket with neoprene cuffs neck and waist it has no zip with magnets for bottons for the pockets, its just like a pullover! best jacket i have ever owned this gear is going to take off big time. when its wet and muddy i just hang it up to dry and brush the dirt off when dry, ive had it on last season in scotland when they had the bad weather with just a base layer on and not been cold. rjimmer
I have tried from time to time to get a RiversWest jacket since Reynard*** raved about them 7 years ago. I found the Rivers West clothing on the Paddlesdown stand about 30 minutes after buying a Kammo coat. Paddlesdown did not have the size I needed in the Ranger model, but, with the Eider model soon to be available, I decided to wait a little longer. Then I found the RiversWest stand was selling stuff to the public, as opposed to merely 'supporting' their retailers and I bought an Ambush model at a reduced price(Mossy Oak was not selling well). They told me that at the Midland GF, they would not be selling direct. To my dismay, they told me that they would not be bringing the SawTooth Mountain Parka to Britain because our winters 'weren't cold enough'. If Paddlesdown can get some importedin time, then I will get one from them at the Midland. The material is like a very tuff neoprene foam and appears to be just as strong as the first Goretex stuff from 25 years ago. It seemed OK against 4 inch nails. We'll have to wait and see how it performs against briars and barbed wire. The zip could have been a slightly heavier duty, an inside breast pocket would have been helpful and the cuffs could Have been what I think is called 'storm cuff'. The Sawtooth Mountain Parka appears to have this type of cuff. http://www.riverswest.com/pic/sawtooth_mobu.jpg Up until now, my favourite jacket for wildfowling has been one that I got from Paddlesdown a long time ago and was made, but unfortunately no longer, by Wearite. Advantage Wetlands Camo/ShadowGrass seems to be out of fashion!!!!!! I can't think why! This will be my first Riverswest Garment so, Banjo, I hope this answers, rather belatedly, your PM to me from June 3rd. I wish I had logged in and read the PM before. It would have saved me the £200 I spent on the Kammo, which appears to be a superb item, by the way.

rjimmer
I wore my new jacket a few times in the dry and it was very warm. The first time I wore it in rain, it leaked on one sleeve. After it stopped raining, it started to dry out inside so it it is probably similar in breathable qualities to new Goretex. I emailed Riverswest and, after nearly 2 weeks(I was panicking), got a phone call from their UK MD asking me to send the jacket back, to an address that he emailed me, for them to study. I posted it on Tuesday this week and received a replacement jacket this morning(Saturday), together with a complimentary bucket hat(£24 in online shops). As I bought the jacket at the CLA, I was not able to take it back to a shop, so the hat more than compensated me for the postage. SO, THEIR GUARANTEE 'DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE BOX'!!!!!!! I think I will now buy some of their trousers, as I have never found a pair of breathable trousers that would keep water out yet.
