I went out on my own yesterday around 7 pm for a sit out before dark in one the fields that had been cut on Monday, I was busy all week so couldn't get there when it was cut.

It had been cut an still had bails in, I parked in middle of field which gave me a 200 yd shot in all directions but couldn't shoot towards one side as of a house an garden.

Didn't get dark till 10pm in the time till then I sat drinking coffee enjoying the view an having a call every now an then.

Finally got dark an got the handheld 170 out an had a scan rifle was set out on truck roof ready. 10 mins pass an I see a pair of eyes reflecting back check threw the scope an confirm it's a fox. It was about 100 yds away but in the direction of the house so no safe shot. Turned lamp off an carried on calling lamp back on found foxy had moved in the field away from house. Fox Got spooked an ran, I followed it with lamp it took cover behind a bail. I moved position on roof an found it in the scope, trying to look threw scope an hold lamp wasn't easy, I got ready checked the shot for safety an vitals on foxy an squeezed of the shot hitting the fox doping it dead on the spot, got range finder out an pinged 197 yds. Drove over an it was this years vixen cub with shot threw the engine room an out the otherside.

One less for the farmer to worry about.
