skyshooter
I've been after a 28 bore o/u for quite a while but all the ones I've seen are 20 bore actions with 28s plonked on! This defeats the object as far as I'm concerned. Does any one know of anyone that makes a 28 with a dedicated 28 action?
olddogfox
Rottweil and Beretta and I think the lincoln are all true 28 gauge actions. I am usng the 28 gauge Benelli and love the 28 gauge. Will be looking for a true 28 gauge action in o/u myself one day in the near future. olddogfox I've been after a 28 bore o/u for quite a while but all the ones I've seen are 20 bore actions with 28s plonked on! HW682
In this months Sporting Gun (September issue) there is a review of Beretta 28g models. Makes a point of mentioning the true 28g action
clayman
The FAIR factory guns and their clones are all on dedicated 28g actions. FAIR guns are distributed from the factory in the names Rizzini, the UK imports through Parker Hale are branded Lincoln, while the imports through RUAG are branded Rotweill. There are also Gasperini and Savage arms version. These are all identical in the action, just differing levels of finish, and different importers / distributors. The Lincoln 20g / 28g and .410 all use the same stock fitting on the action end, but the 28g and 410 actions are internally narrower than the 20g version, - so the Lincoln 410 barrel fits the 28g action, but neither the 410 nor the 28g barrels will fit into the 20g action even though it outwardly appears the same. This results in superior balance on the small gauge guns, the 410 and 28g barrels being lighter than the 20g as the chamber "lump" is smaller. Dekers
Interesting, I understand Beretta are true, probably a few others, seems to happen all round, many 20g actions are actually 12g as well!
