brndn16
Hi all just a quick question Well been shooting clays fairly regularly for 3 months now at Purbeck shooting school mostly and fairly good on some of them and fairly bad on others but my question is will the stands be set up similarly for completion shoots? Cheers Brendan

clayman
For a proper competition the course setter should provide a good variety of difficulty. If its 100 target over 14 stands the setting might be: A couple of stands the average B shooter will straight, C's might drop a target or two, but very satisfying for all who shoot the stand. 3-4 more where the first target is the same standard, but the second more challenging, so the c shooter might expect to get the first out, but have a challenge on the second in the pair. A group of mid difficulty pairs where a B shooter is challenged, while an A hopes to straight, but probably doesn't ( curse curse) and the remainder diabolical to sort out the top performers. On a good course with a variety like this the absolute novice may come in under 50/100, but the improver will expect to get 50-60, the B shooter is trying to top 70, and the high gun will probably be 80+. If there is a whole pile of people shooting around the 90s its too easy, conversely if the novice gets 20-30 ex 100 its set too hard and discourages such people.
