vmax55
just about to treat myself to a new .22lr. Think im going for a browning t bolt sporter as i already have an anshutz. but the barrel length is 22" which in my opinion is way too long so ill proberly have it chopped iwas thinking 14" the same as my annie. what do you guys think? has anyone got one of these rifles and had it chopped? jamie g
14 inchs is a good overall length mate for 22lr. i have a annie 1417 with that length barrel to. very accurate and compact. just make sure you get it done buy a good gunsmith. as the crown is very important

Dekers
My WMR was chopped to 16", to be fair it did seem to shoot pretty well, but I just wasn't comfortable with it. Traded it about 9 months ago for a brand new one and had it chopped to 19", suits me better. Each to their own, but I understand there is no issue with taking it (.22lr) down to 14" or even a bit less. Probably no relevance but most .22lr are 1-16 twist, so it just seems appropriate to let the round spin fully once in the barrel, no science on my part there, just feels right, but as Anschutz make them in 14" barrel I'm not going to argue with them! jamie g
jamie, i use dave @ allcocks outdoor stores in stourport just because its local to me what about u? get all my bullets from uk custom shop in droitwich tho you dont live far from me then i live not far from hindlip police hq. i have shopped at daves store and like it there. parking is abit rubbish inless the spaces outside the shop are free. i also use andrews uk custom shop and bromsgrove shooting supplys. but for rifle work i use richard pope. prices are very good and i no he does alot of the local shops work for them. i dont no if he does daves or andrew does daves work. i would use just one of them but they all seam to have different things each other dont stock. daves shop is very nice since he done it out. and allways found him helpful. but saying that so as andrew and the guys in shooting supplys Edited August 25, 2010 by jamie g
