I learnt to shoot on one. However, if you are only doing clays for now, don't spend more than £500-£600. You can always trade up later. You can get a vey nice Beretta sporter s/h for that price or try a new Webley & Scott.
MAL S
or try a pointer 612s made by same company as w&s but a better gun and cheaper
MITCHF
Hiya mate, brand and model will really depend on your budget. But regardless, "fit" is the most important. Go to a good Gunsmith and try lots for size, go to a good school/coach and you'll get quality guidance. Your first gun could be a gun for life if you follow these tips, dut don't buy for looks or what "they" say. Good luck & have fun. apache
thanks for the repliespoint taken- but the 682 just felt so right. will start looking and trying properly when cert arrives There's nowt wrong buying a good first gun. If you buy 2nd hand you'll get your money back if you sell. The action in the SP range is the same, you pay more for pretty wood and engraving. I think a gun is a thing of beauty as well as a tool so I don't begrudge paying a bit more for a pretty one that fits. A 2nd hand Beretta is a much better bet than a new W&S! Especially if you come to change it.
suggs
682 is a great gun and if it fits, you wont go far wrong buying one or any Beretta. my first gun was a silver pigeon that i sold after 2yrs in a moment of madness that i now regret big time Personally i would buy a decent used gun and save yourself some cash plus a used gun wont loose much if any money, the 682 Gold E is a top notch clay basher and if i was to buy another Beretta that would be it but at over 2k new or 1500 used its not cheap.. HDAV
thanks for the repliespoint taken- but the 682 just felt so right. will start looking and trying properly when cert arrives If you can shoot it with a coach before buying I would secondhand berretta is the way to go (or Browning or Miroku) I tried both a 686 and 525 686 looked nicer 525 shot better, both guns were a couple of years old and same price spec, 30" M/C cased etc, I went out with a coach shot 50 clays about 25 with each and enjoyed the afternoon walked away with the 525 and a skeet vest...... Nice to have a new gun but first time you bump it you will be very unhappy...... I went all over looking at guns as L/H are hard to find and second-hand ones in price range even harder. I find it amazing people will spend £2k on gun they haven't shot......
