West sussex help needed with permission

Can anyone help with gaining permission around the Horsham, West Sussex area. My son and I are beginners and are ready to move from target practice to putting something in the freezer. We are interested in a couple of rabbitts from time to time through stalking. I have exhausted all my contacts, can anyone offer me anything or is it all close guarded secrets.

Appreciate any advice. thanks in advance.

Go out and look for the rabbits in the field, then aproach the farmers.

Just ask if you can shoot a few rabbits, unless someone else is doing them regular they generally won't say no, especially if you offer them some prepared for the table

Agree with having a look around the fields to see where there is a rabbit problem and knock on the door and ask, but the "especially if you offer them some prepared for the table" part all of the farms that I shoot cant stand the sight of rabbits and regard them as the worst kind of vermin, they wouldn't entertain eating them but I suppose each to there own maybe not all farmers are like that.

Hi what guns do you use? I may be able to help later in the yr, air rifle/and walked lamping up only. I have a couple of farms close to you, and could probably take you along some Fri/Sat eves.

BB :good:

Hi, Thanks for the offer, would love to take you up at some stage. I meant what I said we are beginners who share a newly purchase .22 air rifle. However both safe responsible people. Just looking for a free meal from time to time, nothing major. Would be very grateful for any help you can offer. Maybe you can PM me when you can. Thanks Goodfella and son]

Good luck on your quest. I started the same with my lads and initially got no-where. More by luck I gave a local stables a call expecting the usuall 'no thanks' only to almost get kidnapped to stay and sort out 'them flamin rabbits'. I have to admit the rabbits are still getting the better of me (only go for the easy ones as not great at long range targets yet) but its nice to share an interest and time with the kids. Landowner seems happy as I try to be regular, so the moral is - keep trying, and in the meantime keep practicing with the paper targets.
