CHARLY
What make is the gun? new or second hand? As for chokes cyl/cyl is fine for woodies out to 35 yrds with 6`s or7`s. Lot of older shooters swear by cyl choke for shooting close to mid range targets but if your friend wants to go longer range he`ll have to play with the cartridge choice ie. 40yrd duck=36gm 4`s plastic wad. The gun will peform best however with 30gm 7`s and a fibre wad. Charly.
ChrisNicholls
The Italians are probably the best makers of mass produced o/u shotguns, so depending on the make it will probably be ok, are you sure it's a game gun? cyl/cyl sounds more like a skeet gun, unless it's secondhand in which case a former owner has probably had the chokes opened up, no matter, it will be ok for game if your friend selects the appropriate cartridge, some good advice offered by Charly, a plastic wad may add a few yards to it's range. Open chokes and small shot is always my first choice for game, I shoot with improved cylinder and 1/4 choke and usually with 6 or more often 7 shot. mossy835
the gun is secondhand 26in barrels.so the chokes could have been opened up then.ok thanks very much, the gun is in good condition.he will be putting 6 shot though it.for pigeon shooting.
