waddy
Was on Anglia - not sure about other regions - Had a bit about the pigeon shooting during the war - old chap that had been doing it since he was 14. Quite interesting. The pie the wife made made my mouth water Was on at 7.30pm so better than watching DeadEnders on BBC1
invector
It looked like he had the same old hammer gun, with damascus barrels.
waddy
Loved the way he did his decoys - "The plastic ones aren't real enough" he said. He put a stick in around the crop area and then up through the neck into the base of the head. Brilliant. I am surprised that ITV showed pigeon shooting on the TV. I think it is a good thing that people are 'educated' though.
claybreaker88
Sorry I missed it shame I did not know it was on or I would of recorded it although showing this on any channel was a bit of a shocker the fact someone shooting a gun at vermin on television. The food that was cooked in those times was served up two three times a week or more maybe now this idea will come back and are local bucthers will be selling pigeons at £1.25 each I somehow doubt it anyway no harm in dreaming. invector
Like most of these television `set pieces` we didn`t actually see him shoot any pigeons. They probably went to any old field, filmed him, and left!
waddy
A pigeon did fall - whether it was shot at that time or a dead one thrown (which is what it looked like more) it was no stuffed toy. Good piece all the same.
